Last night a courageous lady got up in front of a bunch of lily-livered politicians discussing the County budget and challenged them on why they were stealing her land by regulation and ordinance and why they wouldn't pay her for that theft, like they pay big corporations and railroads.  With pounding heart she delivered her challenge.  Her message was crystal clear.  Just before she spoke, these over-paid politicians ($107,000 per year) were speaking about the physical environment of the county.  In response she said:   "Speaking about the physical environment, is just compensation for rural property owners, whose property you politicians stole, going to be in the  proposed budget?  Sixty Five Percent (65%) of over 8,000 rural landowners in this county was taken by ordinance from them without one cent being paid to them, as required by our federal and state constitutions.  When the county wants land from a corporation or a railroad or a government, they pay for it.  But since there is only 8,000 of us rural landowners, a distinct minority, you can just take it because 8,000 votes is not enough to worry about, is it?  In my case, I have owned 30 acres for 30 years and 20 of those acres were stolen from me by you politicians.  I am 74 years old and I cannot start over.  My 30 acres was my retirement investment.  I am the oldest teacher in the Seattle school district and I can't retire.  I must keep working and getting up at 5:00 a.m. to keep food on the table.  Do you have an answer for me?"

In response to this brave lady, one of the female politicians got up and said that it was inappropriate to bring that up now.  She went on to say that the issue was better discussed at a different time because it is a complicated one.   The lady politician finished up with, "it is about property rights and land use and government control and legal concerns, etc. and these are partisan issues."  Our courageous lady, who gets right to the heart of things, quipped, "all the Democrats voted to take my land and all the Republicans voted not to take it.   It is yes or no, it is up or down.  What's it going to be?"  The female politician threw up her hands in surrender and sat down.  Meanwhile the people in the audience heartily applauded our courageous lady.

You bet it is about decreasing property rights and increasing land use regulation, without due process and without just compensation, as guaranteed by our Constitutions.  What better time than to discuss it a budget hearing in which there might be reparations for the rural landowner who is losing everything to city-dominated, socialist and radical environmental politicians.

Oh, so you want to know the name of this fire brand, this patriot, this brave and courageous lady?  Her name is Edwina Johnston and she says what we should all be saying.  She, a lady David, stood up in front of Goliath with no one behind her and spoke her mind.  If only there were more courageous and brave lady Edwina Johnston's in our midst.    With a thousand Edwina's we could make a real difference.  Unfortunately, there is only one Edwina in 10,000.   Are you an "Edwina", or are you part of the 9,999 other non-Edwina's?  If you are an "Edwina", she and we could use your help.  Edwina is also a member of the National Association of Rural Landowners, the Citizens Alliance for Property Rights and she works tirelessly for freedom, liberty and property rights.  We all owe her a debt of gratitude.

"THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF RURAL LANDOWNERS"

The National Association of Rural Landowners (NARLO) is a non-profit corporation, duly licensed in the State of Washington.  It was formed in response to draconian land use ordinances that were passed by King County in Washington State (Seattle) in the late Fall of 2004, after vociferous opposition from rural landowners.  NARLO's mission is to begin the long process of restoring, preserving and protecting Constitutional property rights and returning this country to a Constitutional Republic.  Government has done a great job of dividing us up into little battle groups where we are essentially impotent at a national level.  We will change all that with the noisy voices and the vast wealth tied up in the land of the American rural landowner.  The land is our power, if we will just use that power, before we lose it.  We welcome donations and volunteers who believe as we do, that government abuses against rural landowners have gone on for far too long and a day of reckoning is at hand.  To learn more, visit our website at www.narlo.org.

President Roosevelt, in his 1933 inaugural address said, “…. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”.  I maintain that the only thing we have to fear is unbridled government.  The only way unbridled government can exist is if WE THE PEOPLE allow it.  Unfortunately, we have
